Check to see if a web page is enabled to be displayed on your desktop. Bring up the Display Properties window (from the control panel or by right-clicking the desktop and selecting Properties) and click the Desktop tab at the top. On that page, click the Customize Desktop button (bottom left), and on the next page select the Web tab at the top. You should be able to change or delete any web pages set to be displayed on the desktop from there.
