Your video drivers are likely an issue, but hopefully that issue is on it's way to being fixed.
You may also wish to check the following:
Go to start\control panel
select the power Options and choose the hibernation tab
If the checkbox is not checked, make it so.
It is not a necessary condition for standby, but it can interfere if other drivers or video problems are interfering.

*Try a defrag as well, if you have sufficient space to do a defrag then it is not a problem, but having low disk space can also effect a computers ability to hibernate.

-Post your results after trying this also after the video card issue is solved you may wish to re-try this attempt if the problem is not resolved.
