Default please help hp pavilion dv 2000

I have a hp pavilion dv 2000 my daughter had her friend install a boot leg copy of vista on her laptop which had xp. i got the recovery discs installed them and it went perfect. now for some reason when i hit restart it shuts down and wont come back up. if i hit the on button once or twice it comes back on. please help. thank you.
