Sounds like you may have had a dual boot situation going on. If you wish to continue to see that option you must make the drive bootable again. You cannot boot to an empty drive so you need to install a bootable program or operating system.

This can also be installed by a third party boot manager but still cannot boot to any drive that is empty.
