Stuart, I have never used IE7 except for beta testing and I didn't care for it then. I have converted over to FireFox3 and the adblocker for it works wonders on those pesky adds...with no fine tuning at all!
A friend of mine uses the paid for
AdMuncher application and swears by it to not only block the adds but also any pop-ups or pop-unders that come up in various websites.
