Default keep dropping the network


canot keep my network running I am using linksis wap 54g with a 60 inch stick antenna broadcasting to some linksis wet 54g hokked to a 24 dbi gain grid antenna. i am broadcasting 1 mile. Is there a booster needed or are there better antennas to use. also i need to broadcast in at least a 90 degree pattern.

Hmmm.... tought one. Which firmware are you using? Are you using the stock one from Linksys or are you using any of the aftermarket firmware packages?

If you're still using factory default, you may want to give DD-WRT a try. It allows you to boost your transmission power 10x over.

your router wouldn't happen to transmit at 2GHz would it? I've had issues with portable phones on the same frequency as my router/access point/adapters when they are in the same room, and the signal tends to decrease when the phone is in use.

Also there could be someone spoofing your network (I've have seen this in action with my own network) and it is quite easy to force all connections to disconnect remotely without proper security.
I would hope you have a WEP key at the very least, though even those can be broken.
