Default How fast can you type?

How fast can you type?

Do you hold your fingers on the proper keys? Are you a hunt & peck typist?

I'm 85-90 words per minute, with 98% accuracy. That's on a computer... don't ever ask me to get on an actual typewriter, though... my accuracy would fall quickly to 50%, I'm sure.

If you don't know your speed, go here: http://www.typingtest.com/

I got a terrible 28 words per minute. I only got 1 word wrong though. I have to look at the keys. I don't only use two fingers but I don't use the proper ones, thats for sure.

75-80 WPM 100% accuracy and I look at the keys sometimes, but I know mainly where they are without looking. However on the forums I do have days where I have to edit my posts because I seem to have a spelling breakdown lol

I took the test a few times to be sure, using a different text each time. my average is between 60 and 70 wpm, with 95-100% accuracy. I've done these sorts of tests before, and i know that anything involving the letter z, c or lots of commas slows me down for some reason, lol.

Hmm... I got a 69 WPM gross speed with 82% accuracy No wonder I need so many spell checkers like spellbound or need safari while I'm typing. I tend to make too many mistakes these days. And the commas and capital letters seem to be the problems for me, always.. Oh well I guess I just need more practice to get used to it.

BTW anyone use a DVORAK layout keyboards here or Azerty keyboards? I wonder if that will increase my typing speed.

Well hot dang, I never even new there was another format for a keyboard out there. I guess I shouldn't be surprised, though... improvement and alternatives are commonly sought.

I suppose I would have to take an actual class to learn the new format, because it's a night and day comparison to QWERTY.

Well actually... apparently dvorak layout is easier to learn than the QWERTY one, because of how the keys are placed (read this if anyone is really interested). And it actually isn't that hard... I tried it once, but the problem is that the world uses QWERTY, and I fear that I might loose the touch of typing on QWERTY, so I never did bother completing learning the DVORAK layout. Apart from that this also makes a great prank I've used it on my friends when they come around to ... heh, they always think I need to get myself a new keyboard.

The world's fastest typists use DVORAK, so I'm sure that your speed is significantly going to improve if you use it... but for me I'll just be sticking to qwerty (or Azerty if I ever happen to move to France).

I used to know a girl (woman actually) who did 100WPM on the old Wang word processor. She was doing medical transcription work, it was quite scary to observe her work.

Personally, I got around 50-60 WPM on that test, with some errors.
