how do i copy a movie from a dvd to my c, my operating system is wndow vista

The simplest way is to open a window with the contents of your DVD drive.
Right clik the desktop and choose New Folder. Give it a name and open it alongside the DVD folder. Clik Edit/Select All in the DVD folder and copy in the New Folder you just named. I believe one of the files may be a .vob file. If you clik it the DVD movie should start. If not try one of the other file types. (This is a way of starting the DVD once copied to the PC hardrive -- your "New Folder". I'm sure there are programs that can do this just as well but this should work with any Windows system. --Stuart

Copying a DVD into your Vista computer is not different from copying other type of files from a CD to a computer. You just need to make sure that your CD drive is DVD compatible, and then highlight all the files that the DVD contains. Once the files are highlighted, copy by right clicking on the mouse and choosing copy or go to Edit Tab and choose Copy. Then go to the drive where you would like to locate the files and press Ctrl+V, the shortcut for paste or go to Edit tab and choose Paste. Wait for the files to be copied completely before you discard the DVD from the drive. This allows the files to access the data needed for duplicating.

Copying files from a CD may also be done by simply dragging and dropping the files. Do this by going to my computer, then from the left side of the window where the Folders appear drag all the files from the DVD and drop them on the right side of the My Computer Window to the folder where you want your copied files to be located.

Some files are protected, and usually gives you the choice to copy them with protection or not, keeping the protection means being able to play the contents only on the computer where you have copied the files, burning or writing the files could be impossible or unsuccessful when files have right protected.
