Anti-Virus Maintenance

Part of my malware maintenance when and if I do get malware is to attack it vigorously...but the odd time the rascals leave footprints around, that are just waiting to rear their ugly heads.

I use "Registry First Aid" Platinum Edition. Each time I "entertain" a virus or malware, and it is identified, I record any and all information re: the files that are associated with it. Part of RFA-PE is a registry search function for specific entries. I enter the file names that the malware is associated with and then send RFA to look for them. They are found quickly and easily. AND KILLED with the tap of a command button.

But before I leave that process, I leave the entered file names in the heirarchy of files in the killing basket...so that I don't forget them. Then every once in a while, say once a month or more, I send RFA to look for any instances of them that may have snuck in the back door.

I find that by recording these malware files and keeping track of them, it is a faster route to identifying the guilty parties when the need arises.
