First be sure to be equipped with router with enough ports to support all your nine computer units. It is an advantage that you are using XP as your Operating System the Networking is usually set easier on this OS.
Provided with all cables, internet connection, router, and LAN cards you can start by installing the router to the computer which connects to the internet. Follow the step by step installation guide provided with your router. Usually instructs you to plug your modem then connect the modem to the router, then the first computer to port1, then the router plug to the power supply, after having your first computer configured with the router. Make sure your first computer is able to connect to the internet. After that, you may shut down your computer and connect all the ports connected to other eight computers. The router should then automatically share the internet to all other computers.
Make sure that your Network is enabled in order to be connected. Be sure to choose the right Value of the LAN Card you are using. This value may be configured upon clicking on the Properties of your LAN connection, on the right side of the Advanced Tab. If only the internet connection is to be configured, it would no longer be necessary to use the Network Wizard; this is normally used for file and printer sharing.
